The hallmark of cancer care is often the availability
of clinical trials. Our clinical trials associate can
tell you what trials are available and how to
access them. The clinical trials associate can also
answer questions about cancer research and the

The Cancer Advocacy Center®
The Cancer Advocacy Center, part of Lee Memorial
Health System, has been established to provide
our community with an easy and effective way to
get information and support when dealing with
the diagnosis of cancer.
The Cancer Advocacy Center is the result of hundreds of
calls from patients and families, both residents and nonresidents alike, who were searching for a live person to
talk with and answer their questions and concerns.
The Cancer Advocacy Center fills this need. Now a
patient or family can call a single phone number,
877-680-0008*, to speak with a live person and
access the services listed below. If you call after
5 p.m. or Saturday or Sunday, please leave a
message and we will call you back the following
business day.
Oncology Certified
Registered Nurses
Nurses certified in oncology are available
to help you and your family through the
difficult time of diagnosis and treatment.
Many problems and/or concerns can be
resolved over the phone with a nurse who is
listening to your problem and is able to help
walk you through a resolution. Whether it is
confusion about the treatment prescribed,
concerns about initiating treatment or
coping with side effects from treatment, the
nurses are available to help you deal with
these problems so you can live with less fear
and stress. You will also have a much better
understanding of what is happening, which
will allow you to feel more in control.
Cancer Navigators
Support Groups and Services
Our dedicated cancer navigators are nurses with great
compassion for those struggling with cancer. The
navigators are available to help guide you through all of
the complexity that a diagnosis of cancer creates. The
navigator can help you talk to your doctor, provide you
with educational materials and translate the medical
information into understandable terms.
Lee Memorial Health System provides psychosocial
support for patients and their families. The support
groups are facilitated by a clinical nurse specialist. Breast
cancer, ovarian cancer and brain tumor groups are
available, as well as programs for the mind, body and
soul. Call to inquire or schedule.
