People choose most of our thoughts and
behaviors based on our needs to belong, feel
loved, be connected to others, etc.
Thoughts and behaviors are driven by
suppressed unconscious desires for
unacceptable sex and aggression
Thoughts and behaviors are explained in
terms of biological processes (genetics,
hormones, brain chemicals, etc.)
Explains thoughts and behaviors in terms of
natural selection; psychological traits that are
advantageous for survival get passed down
Thoughts and behaviors are motivated by
others’ reactions; we continue doing things
that are rewarded and stop doing things that
are punished
Explains human thought and behavior in
terms of how we think about, interpret,
process, and remember environmental
events
Explains human thought and behavior in
terms of variations in cultures; what is
valued by a society &/or culture
