ESOTERIC ASTROLOGY - PLUTO IN CAPRICORN

1. Pluto first entered Capricorn in January 2008.
As esoteric astrologers know, this combination predicts the purging of corruption and greed
from governments, corporations, and all large institutions which wield power and influence,
so that they can serve the masses better. Pluto is also a ruler of the field of finance in the sense
that it rules the 8th house - “other people’s money.” So its effect is especially felt in this area
as well.
As we have seen recently, the “arrow of death” has been fired by the Spiritual Hierarchy at
corrupt practises within the capitalist system and its banking methods, and it is falling apart, and as
a consequence, can be retooled.
Capitalism: the „form‟ or system which has arisen from humanity to perpetuate greed, is
unregulated capitalism. It is an economic system in which the means of production is privately
owned and operated for profit, and the market place determines the value of anything. It
manipulates resources and money – the latter is sacred energy manifested in a physical form, to
amass wealth in the hands of relatively few.
The system has been largely accepted by the middle and lower classes of humanity because of
a belief in the „trickle-down effect‟. Greater wealth created at the top supposedly, will trickle
down, increasing prosperity through all classes. The reverse has been true, but is has taken the
financial “meltdown” and share-market crash of October 2008 to bring this home to the masses.
The illusion has been shattered!
The evil of unregulated capitalism from the spiritual point of view, is that man and his labour has
been placed into the market place, as another commodity to be bartered over. Du e to “oversupply”, man‟s value has been determined by materialists, to be zero, and he is treated
accordingly – like a slave to be discarded. This has set the standard of measure in the capitalist
world – if you have money you are somebody to be respected and admired; if you don‟t, you are
an unworthy human being.
This violates spiritual law which holds that all are children of God, and are deserving of all
the bounties of the earth.
Alice Bailey said the following on capitalism: “The cause of all world unrest.. world wars which
have wrecked humanity and the widespread misery upon our planet can largely be attributed to
a selfish group with materialistic purposes who have for centuries exploited the masses and used
the labour of mankind for their selfish ends. From the feudal barons of Europe and Great
Britain in the Middle Ages through the powerful business groups of the Victorian era to the
handful of capitalists—national and international—who today control the world's resources, the
capitalistic system has emerged and has wrecked the world. This group of capitalists has
cornered and exploited the world's resources and the staples required for civilized living; they
have been able to do this because they have owned and controlled the world's wealth through
their interlocking directorates and have retained it in their own hands. They have made possible
the vast differences existing between the very rich and the very poor; they love money and the
power which money gives; they have stood behind governments and politicians; they have
controlled the electorate; they have made possible the narrow nationalistic aims of selfish
politics; they have financed the world businesses and controlled [LH: the world‟s resources].”

Unregulated capitalism has become crystallised. The „form‟ which permitted greed to flourish in
the Piscean Age, will be destroyed, to be replaced by a fairer economic system embodying the
values of the Aquarian Age “Water of Life am I, poured forth for thirsty men [LH: i.e. “for all”].
We have only seen the beginning of Pluto‟s destructive purifying work, which is necessary to
prepare man‟s consciousness to receive the Christ vibration around 2025. Many people will step
onto the path at the end of this process. Many who are already upon the Path will take initiation.
On the 27th December, Mars crosses Pluto and this is a volatile mix. There is anger and the
possibility of violence. This aspect remains in effect for four days. It will likely affect the financial
markets, but could also involve terrorist activity. It is fortunate that this occurs after the US
Presidential election, but it will also come about before the new administration takes office. So it is
a time of great instability.
2. October 2008: Financial Meltdown.
August 2007. The current crisis began in August of 2007 in the USA, with a dissolving of
confidence in mortgages. Saturn which rules mortgages and corporations was passing through
selfish Leo, being opposed by Neptune in the “people‟s” sign, Aquarius. The inevitable collapse
was delayed by Saturn‟s trine to Pluto. However, Saturn moved into Virgo – a sign particularly
related to materialism, crystallising the situation, and bringing to maturity, karmic seeds of greed
from the past.
July 11 2008. The largest mortgage lender in the US Indy-Mac collapsed, a result of Pluto‟s brief
entry into Capricorn (Capricorn is Saturn‟s sign and therefore rules mortgages, governments,
corporations). Volatile Mars in Cancer (the masses) transited opposite Pluto for a few months,
heating up the situation, and igniting the fuse of anger pouring from the people.
2. Nov 08 – Jul 2010. Saturn opposition Uranus.
Both Saturn and Uranus are „sacred‟ planets (have a spiritual beneficial effect upon man), and
therefore their forces will be used and directed by the Forces of Light, to achieve the goals of the
spiritual Plan. Basically, to eliminate greed so that more inclusive attitudes can grow.
Saturn starts this interchange from Virgo, while Uranus is in Pisces. Both signs are particularly
related to materialism – Virgo “let matter reign”, and Pisces “go forth into matter.” Neptune and
Pluto were in Pisces in the 19th century when modern capitalism was seeded and flourished, and
now that they are both coming to an end of a cycle, they will help contribute to its demise. Saturn
will crystallise systems, governments, corporations, and other edifices which perpetuate the
unregulated capitalist system, so they can be shattered by the Aquarian force!
When Saturn moves into Libra, the sign which governs money and law, the foundations could be
laid for new economic and legal structures which are fairer and more in line with the required
Aquarian Age principles.
September 2008. Saturn and Uranus are within orb of influence, and are now working together.
The US government intervened to shore up several US banks, but let Lehman‟s crash on September
14. This initiated the domino-like effect which saw the market become chaotic, and financial
institutions fall. Through October, dramatic changes take place as the US and UK virtually
nationalise banks, and experts declare “capitalism” dead. Positive action is seen as governments
unite to find a common solution.
In the course of this interchange between the forces of Conservatism (Saturn), and the forces of
Change and Liberalism (Uranus), five major connections will be made. The process begins this
November and ends mid-2010. Nov 08, Jan 09, Sep 09, May 2010, Jul 10.
November 2008. The US election will be held, and we can expect Obama to be elected upon the
wave of change and renewal which Uranus is bringing in. Obama has Aquarius rising. It is highly
likely that he has been selected to be the spear-head of radical change - both within his own country
and within the world, which will found the spiritual values of fairness and brotherhood, which the
Water-Bearer of Aquarius (Aquarian Christ) demands.
3. 2009-2010. Saturn squares Pluto. Saturn is in Libra then, the sign it rules on a hierarchical
level, so its effect will be for the greater good, and for the long term, bringing stability in both the
financial field and in the world generally. But this may not be immediately seen for quite a period.
This aspect will probably see the materialistic forces regrouping.
Saturn‟s task is to crystallise forms which limit the expansion o f light and life, so this process
will be taking place beneath it all. This transit lasts until August 2010.
4. August 2010. A T-Square is briefly formed: Pluto square, Uranus-Saturn opposition. In this
configuration we have two sacred planets, which represent the forces of Light; and Pluto, a nonsacred planet which tends to galvanise and bring forward man‟s dark side. Destruction cannot occur
until a target reveals itself!
Uranus culminates the work fostered under Saturn sq Pluto. It moves briefly into Aries,
beginning a new zodiacal cycle, and forms the T-square. Uranus is the planet which brings sudden
and radical change, and all three planets are in cardinal signs which also promote activity and rapid
movement forward. So August 2010 will be a significant period, an opportunity. Expect major
activity around this period.
5. 2013-2015. The next major aspect occurs from Uranus in Aries, square Pluto. This is an
extremely volatile mix, and it will bring a further round of changes upon earth. Uranus is related to
Aquarius, and so the Water Bearer‟s beneficial and wise effect will be working behind the chaos, to
establish group/ soul consciousness on earth.
This really symbolises all out warfare between the spiritual forces (Uranus)
and the material forces (Pluto in Capricorn).
It would be good if the conflict stays on the Mental Plane, and perhaps is confined to the
reconstruction of the processes of government and business. But anything can happen. What is
certain is that as a consequence of the fight, there will be definite changes to the way governments,
banks and large corporations conduct their business. The period could see the final death of the
Capitalist system in its unregulated form, and the seeds of this are being sown now. “Greed is
good” will be a dirty phrase by that time if not already. Obstacles which stand in the way of all
humanity getting a fairer deal, will be targeted for destruction. This transit lasts until March of 2015
6. 2013. For a few days in August, the first sign of imminent relief appears. While Uranus
continues its shattering effect, the other two synthesising planets - and beneficial Jupiter,
form a Kite pattern with Pluto.
The Kite with these planets, is like the phoenix rising
- a beautiful new form will rise from the ashes and destruction of the past.
Pluto sextile Saturn in Scorpio, Neptune in Pisces. A Grand Trine between Jupiter, Saturn
and Neptune. Jupiter is in its exaltation in Cancer - this is most beneficial for humanity, blessings
are coming to mankind. Saturn is in Scorpio - stern measures will be applied to stop those who prey
on the weak and innocent. Neptune is in Pisces - the loving and compassionate presence of the
Christ will be felt.
The angles are wide, and the pattern is only in effect for a short period. Uranus continues its
work, chaos will occur, there is a lot more work to be done. It will take time, before the promise can
be implemented. But people will feel this effect as if a rainbow has appeared, or that dawn has
come, or the light at the end of the tunnel has been seen. They will start to feel more safe and
secure.
In the meantime, be cautious in all business and financial dealings. Live a simple life. Focus
on the essentials. Work with the Hierarchy in meditation and right-action, to bring about the
needed changes to prepare the way for the Christ’s return - symbolically, the dawning of the
true Age of Brotherhood, of Love and Wisdom.
