Shockwave
Therapy
Shockwave Therapy is a new technology
using shockwaves to treat chronic, painful conditions of the
musculoskeletal system.
It sends an intense, very short energy wave into the body
travelling faster than the speed of sound.
Shockwave Therapy works best when treating a chronic condition
that has reached a non healing state. It can jump start the healing
process and move the patient back into the acute stage of healing.
It is commonly used to treat attachment points for tendons and
ligaments in major joints like the shoulder (rotator cuff), elbow
(tennis elbow), hip and knee.
Another common area for treatment is the foot for conditions
such as plantar fasciitis and Achilles tendonitis. Connective tissue
pain, muscle pain and joint injuries are also effectively treated.
Pain relief can be noticed immediately following treatment. It
usually takes several days for tissues to begin to heal, and many
patients see an improvement within a few treatments.
