Magnetic Field of a Solenoid
Purpose: To determine the winding density of an air-core solenoid.
Theory: B   nI
0
Equipment: air-core solenoid, a current probe (or voltage probe), and a magnetic field
Students are told to determine n graphically. They can also be told to determine the number of layers of windings.
To do this, they must estimate the number of wrappings per unit length, which is pretty hard to do!
