The criteria for your project, is that you should give a detailed analysis on the impact of
external factors on the sound and structure of musical styles. You will need to demonstrate
the ability to aurally distinguish differences in the sound and structure of specific music
styles.
You must demonstrate, clearly, by presenting a summary of your findings, whether it is done
orally, or in written form. You must show an understanding of the impact of social and
cultural factors on musicians/composers and their music. At higher level, you will be
expected also, to research into the musicians/composers lives and to give a full account of
what inspired them to compose in a particular style?
