N.N. Alexandrov National Cancer Center of Belarus is one of the largest
medical center in Belarus, where diagnostic and treatment processes are localized
for oncological and non oncological patients. The highly qualified specialists have
excellent experience and skills for surgical treatment, chemotherapy, radiation
therapy, hyperthermia and photodinamic therapy.
Republican center of positron emission tomography (PET/CT) and
Republican
genetic laboratory of cancerogenesis were opened at the
N.N. Alexandrov National Cancer Center base in October 2015. There are two
ultramodern and powerful centers.
PET/CT is a hybrid modality, the method of choice in the early diagnosis of
cancer, neurological and cardiac diseases. Republican PET centre combines the
capabilities of the non-invasive detection of morphological (by usage of computed
tomography) and metabolic (due to data positron emission tomography) changes.
A few PET/CT scanners were installed at late 2015: one GE Discovery 710
and two GE Discovery IQ. We have our own producing area with IBA Cyclone
18/9, 4 hotlabs with a Comecer equipment.
At the moment, we use two radiotracers: 18F-FDG and 18F-choline.
The indications of 18F-FDG usage are:
-Head and neck cancer;
-Cancer of the bronchi and lung;
-Breast cancer;
-Lymphoma;
-Melanoma
-Tumors of the gastrointestinal tract;
-Neoplasms of the reproductive organs;
-Thyroid cancer;
-Malignant neoplasms of bone and articular cartilage;
-Neoplasms not specified or not well-known origin.

F-choline use as a diagnostic agent for PET in oncourology and
neurooncology. Indications for the study are:
- Diagnosis and differential diagnosis of cancer recurrence, such as cancer of
the prostate, pituitary adenoma, glioma and other brain tumors;
- Determination of the prevalence of neoplastic lesions in prostate cancer;
- Assessment of the effectiveness of treatment of malignant tumors.
We have a high-qualified staff, which have long experience of practical work in
nuclear medicine and radiology and was trained in PET centers in Russia,
Switzerland and Poland
N.N. Alexandrov National Cancer Center of Belarus has a modern
Republican genetic laboratory of cancerogenesis to diagnostic disease and monitor
the effectiveness of treatment.
The main areas of laboratory, work are:
 Genetic risks of tumors assessment;
 Oncological genetics (2 certificates of quality for Sanger , sequencing
diagnostics), chromosome aberration (FISH diagnostic);
 Molecular profiling of tumors;
 Diagnosis of lymphoproliferative diseases;
 Personalized approach to treatment assignments;
 Monitoring and determination of bioequivalent medicine using the
method of mass-spectrometry;
 Treatment monitoring and relapse evaluation;
 Development and implementation of cell therapy and tissue
engineering technologies;
 Creation of test systems for molecular genetic studies;
 Participation in clinical trials;
 Training and educational activities.
The highly qualified specialists have skills of the most modern method
