at a slower rate than normal red blood cells.

human body.

Justify how the body responds to sickle cell anemia in

The Lesson Plan
● Warm-Up: Students will complete a mind map to recall prior knowledge learned
from previous lessons regarding the circulatory system and how it interacts with
other organ systems. (5 minutes)
● Engage: Introduce students to SCA with video (5 minutes)
● Explore, Explain, & Elaborate: Through NetLogo model activity (30 minutes)
● Evaluate: Demonstrate learning in exit ticket (5 minutes)
