Chapter 10 Part 2 Review
Study this review and you should do well on the exam. Don’t forget all the terms
you learned from the first half of this chapter. Don’t forget to make yourself a note
card.
Vocabulary to know:
circumscribed polygon
point of tangency
tangent line
perimeter
secant line
Skills to Hone and Practice Problems: In all practice problems assume all lines or
segments that look tangent are tangent.
Section 10.5: Know what a tangent line is and know the relationship between a
tangent line and a radius drawn to the point of tangency. Know the relationship
between two segments that are tangent to a circle from the same point of
tangency outside the circle.
Practice problem 1: Given circle P with A being the point of tangency, find AN.
Find the exact value and approximate to the nearest hundredth.
Practice problem 2: Given AR = 52, AD = 18, TX = 12. Find the perimeter of ART
Practice Problem 3: Find the value of x.
Section 10.6: Know how to find the measures of angles created when two secants
intersect inside a circle. Know how to find the measures of angles created when a
secant and a tangent intersect at the point of tangency. Know how to find the
measures of angles created when secants and/or tangents intersect outside a
circle.
Practice Problem 4: Find x in each diagram. The given arc or angle measures are
in degrees.
Practice Problem 5: Given circle E with CG tangent at point C, mAB=50, DH=75,
mHC=30, and diameter BD. Find mABD, mAFB, mCGD.
Section 10.7: Know how to find the length of segments formed when secants
and/or tangents intersect.
Practice Problem 6: Find x in each of the diagrams. Assume segments that look
tangent are.
