Earth’s Layers
What are the earth layers? Earth layers are the Crust, Mantle, Outer Core, and Inner Core. There
are four layers. We know what the inside of the earth because scientists study earthquakes. Geologist
use a special instrument called a seismograph to study.
The crust is the thinnest layers it is about 20 miles. What is the crust? The crust is a really import
because we live on it. It is the outer most layers. The crust is deeper under continents than oceans.
What is the Mantle? The Mantle is the layer of rock lying below the Crust. It is the thickest layer,
and it is about 60,000 miles. It is the second hottest layer.
The Outer Core is made of melted iron. Outer Core is a scalding layer it is 7,000 degree. It is the
only layer that is totally liquid. The Outer Core is the biggest layer.
Did you know that the Inner Core is rock solid? What is the Inner Core? The Inner Core is the
center of the earth. It is a solid sphere. The Outer Core is around the Inner Core.
How do scientists know about the layers? Scientists know about the by studying earthquakes.
The layers are the Crust, Mantle, Outer Core, and Inner Core. These are the layers. The earth inside is
awesome, but we do not know everything about it.
