CURRICULUM VITAE Brice Sone Born: 5th March 1984 Nationality: Cameroonian Mobile: +237 679 343 129 Email: [email protected] / [email protected] CORE RESEARCH ACTIVITIES–Environmental Chemistry and Ecotoxicology Research within environmental chemistry and ecotoxicology, linking chemistry and biological responses to feed human and ecological risk assessment using different biomarkers in aquatic ecosystems. LANGUAGES Languages (Written and Spoken): English (fluent), French (good), Norwegian (basic) ACADEMIC PROJECTS Master Thesis in Radioecology: Uranium speciation in freshwater, bioavailability and uptake in Atlantic salmon (Salmo salar L.) parr and the influence of pH (2015) - Grade B. Focus: Environmental Radioactivity Contribution toward developing a Biotic Ligand Model (BLM) for assessing uranium behaviour in water and toxicity to aquatic biota as part of one EU project (STAR- Strategy for Allied Radioecology). Determining limit for uranium in the environment in relation to uranium mining with runoff into watercourses. Controlled acute experiments (96h) with uranium (U) and Atlantic salmon (Salmo salar L.) parr. On site water filtration and fractionation for speciation information. Dissection of exposed fish for uranium accumulation analysis. Data Analysis and Ecological Significance. Master Thesis in Ecotoxicology: Trace Metals in Water and Fish (Sarotherodon linellii, Pungu maclareni and Clarias maclareni) from Lake Barombi Mbo in Cameroon (2012) - Grade B. Focus: Ecotoxicology Fieldwork- Collection of Samples (Water, Sediment and Biota) Onsite Sample Handling Laboratory Work—Pre-treatment of Samples, UltraClave and digestion for ICP-MS/OES Data Analysis and Ecological Significance (Biota and Human) Other Courses: 2007 - 2015 Global and Local Pollution (2013), the Ecology and Management of Rivers and Lakes (2013), Radiation and Radiochemistry (2012), Experimental Radioecology (2012), Environmental Pollutants and Ecotoxicology (2010), Restoration Ecology (2010), Statistical Analysis (2012-), Environmental Impact, Assessment and Protection (2008), Environmental Analytical Chemistry (2007), Environmental Health (2007/2008). Bachelor Thesis in Environmental Science: Distribution of Some Soil Physicochemical Properties in Fako Division, Cameroon (2008). - Grade B+ Focus: Environmental Chemistry Soil Sampling Handling and Pre-treatment CERTIFICATION – Issued May 2011 Dissection Certificate for Ecotoxicological Studies: Dissection of fish for sampling of organs for analyses of micro pollutants. PROJECT PARTICIPATION Participated in other projects such as the "Tracer Experiment 2015 -Iodine-131 in cows". Extracting blood, rumen, saliva, urine from canola vs soy diet fed cows and measuring radioactivity on their shoulder and thyroid thereafter. STAR Availability 3: Development of a uranium biotic ligand model for Atlantic salmon (Salmo salar). –2012 ACCOMPLISHMENTS Results of my study on uranium speciation, bioavailability and uptake in Atlantic salmon (2015) could be used as input factor for the influence of pH as part of developing an acute Biotic Ligand Model for U toxicity in fish. Results from Lake Barombi Mbo study (2012) could provide historical data for monitoring and ecological risk assessment. CONFERENCE POSTER Hans-Christian Teien, TuridHertel-Aas, Håvard Thørring, Lindis Skipperud, Louise Kiel Jensen, Brice N. Sone, Deborah H. Oughton, Brit Salbu. 2015. Uranium speciation, uptake and toxicity in Atlantic salmon (Salmo salar). Aix en Province, France, 9-11 June, 2015. MANUSCRIPT FOR PUBLICATION Brice N. Sone, Hans-Christian Teien, Turid Hertel-Aas, Ole Christian Lind, Brit Salbu. Uranium speciation in freshwater, bioavailability and uptake in Atlantic salmon (Salmo salar L.) parr and the influence of pH. Determination of water quality and trace metals in some endemic fish species (Sarotherodon linellii, Pungu maclareni and catfish Clarias maclareni) from Crater Lake BarombiMbo, Cameroon. (Submitted) BN Sone. WORK EXPERIENCE – Laboratory Aid at NMBU Isotope Laboratory (Nov 2015 – Jan 2016) Handling (freeze drying, weighing), digestion (UltraClave High Performance Microwave Digestion) and dilution of soil samples for multielement analysis on ICP-MS. Counting of Atlantic salmon fish eggs and alevins from different female groups exposed to varying concentrations of cadmium, uranium and gamma radiation to inspect for recovery and other end points e.g., mortality. Dissection, digestion and dilution of fish eggs and alevins exposed to different concentrations of uranium and gamma radiation as part of contributing to a project within the Centre of Excellence for Environmental Radioactivity (CoE CERAD).
