Curriculum 2.0 Two-year Algebra 2, Algebra 2, and
Honors Algebra 2
This document outlines concepts in each Topic for the Unit. When corresponding resources are available in
cK12.org, a hyperlink is provided for the Flexbook. The cK12.org Flexbooks provide a variety of examples,
definitions, and extra practice problems related to some of the concepts in Curriculum 2.0 Two-year Algebra 2,
Algebra 2, and Honors Algebra 2. The concepts will be developed in greater depth and with appropriate
vocabulary in the classroom. The materials in the Flexbooks are intended to provide additional support to the
classroom expectations. The vocabulary and methods in these examples may differ slightly from the classroom
expectation; however, the overall intent is consistent with the content expectation.
Unit 3: Introduction to Trigonometric Functions
Topic 1: Modeling Circular Motion





Use the sine ratio to determine the height of a point following a circular path at a given point on the
circle. (cK–12 Flexbook Unit 3 Topic 1 SLT 1)
Use the sine ratio to model the height of a point following a circular path at a given time. (cK–12
Flexbook Unit 3 Topic 1 SLT 2)
Extend the definition of sine from a right triangle ratio to a function of an angle of rotation. (cK–12
Flexbook Unit 3 Topic 1 SLT 3)
Use transformations of the sine function to model circular motion. (cK–12 Flexbook Unit 3 Topic 1
SLT 4)
Use transformations of the cosine function to model a real-world problem. (cK–12 Flexbook Unit 3
Topic 1 SLT 5)
Topic 2: Graphing Trigonometric Functions






Extend the domain of the sine and cosine functions to all real numbers, interpreted as radian measures of
angles. (cK–12 Flexbook Unit 3 Topic 1 SLT 6)
Graph sine and cosine as functions of real numbers, and identify key features of the graphs.
o Amplitude (cK–12 Flexbook Unit 3 Topic 1 SLT 7 amplitude)
o Period (cK–12 Flexbook Unit 3 Topic 1 SLT 7 period)
o Vertical Shift (cK–12 Flexbook Unit 3 Topic 1 SLT 7 vertical shift)
Graph transformations of the sine and cosine functions, showing period, midline, and amplitude. (cK–12
Flexbook Unit 3 Topic 1 SLT 8)
Use the sine and cosine functions to model real-world phenomena. (cK–12 Flexbook Unit 3 Topic 1
SLT 9)
Define and graph the tangent function and identify key features of the graph. (cK–12 Flexbook Unit 3
Topic 1 SLT 10)
Make connections among a variety of function types, their transformations, and their key features. (cK–
