Stepper and DC Motor Drivers
Microchip offers devices to drive bipolar stepper motors, or bidirectional control of two DC motors. These
devices are


MTS2916A
MTS62C19A
The main features of this family of products are:










Able to drive both windings of a bipolar stepper motor, or bidirectional control of 2 DC motors
Load voltage supply range: 10V to 40V
Output current up to 750mA (each bridge)
Internal fixed Toff time PWM current control
Built-in protection diodes
Internal thermal shutdown
Under-voltage lockout
LS-TTL compatible logic inputs with pull-up resistors
Low RON output resistance
Low quiescent current
Three-Phase BLDC Fan Motor Controllers
Microchip also offers a family of sensorless sinusoidal drivers for three-phase BLDC fan motors. This
family of fan controllers can be interfaced with any microcontroller by using a simple PWM, or can also be
used stand alone by the application.


Sensorless Three Phase Brushless DC drivers (no Hall-effect sensor required)
180° sinusoidal drive, for high efficiency and low acoustic noise
Supports 2V to 14V power supplies (MTD6501C/D/G) or 2V to 5.5V (MTD6502B and MTD6505)
Speed control through power supply modulation (PSM) and/or pulse-width modulation (PWM)
Direction control pin (MTD6502B and MTD6505)
Resistor programmable BEMF coefficient (MTD6505)
20 kHz PWM output frequency (MTD6501C/D); 23 kHz PWM output frequency (MTD6501G)
Motor speed output (FG)
Lockup protection and automatic recovery circuit (no external capacitor required)
Over-current Limit, short circuit and over-temperature protection
