Review Sheet Semester Test
This review sheet attempts to cover everything that may possibly show up on the
test, but in actuality, if we discussed it during this semester, then it is “fair game”
for the test, even if it does not show up on this review sheet.

When did we land on the Moon for the first time? What was the name of the
mission?
2. What are highlands? What are the maria? What are the impact craters? What are
the ejecta?
3. What is regolith? How does regolith form?
4. Why do we only see one side of the moon, unless you are in a space shuttle flying
around on the back side?
5. How long does it take the moon to orbit Earth?
6. Why does the moon have craters, and the Earth does not?
7. What is the impact theory? Why do scientists think that the impact theory is the
correct one?
8. Why do we have phases of the moon? Be able to label a diagram of moon phases.
(nothing to write here…study the picture in your book)
9. Why do we have eclipses? Why don’t we have eclipses every month?
10. Be able to determine what type of eclipse it is, and label the umbra and penumbra.
(Draw both a solar eclipse here and a lunar eclipse, and draw/shade in the umbra
and penumbra, then label the umbra/penumbra)

12. Why do we have seasons? If shown a diagram of Earth’s orbit around the sun, be
