The IACS study: Integrative Approaches to Cancer Survivorship
Are you a breast cancer survivor who is interested in learning more about diet, lifestyle, and
exercise?
The UCSF IACS study is seeking breast cancer survivors to participate in a novel research
project that explores the effects of certain lifestyle, nutritional and physical activity
recommendations, based on Ayurvedic Medicine, for managing cancer-related symptoms and
improving overall quality of life. Ayurveda is a 5,000 year old system of medicine originating in
the Indian subcontinent that emphasizes prevention and wellness.
Participating in the IACS study
As a participant, you would:




Participate in a 4 month program at no charge
Meet individually with a clinician and yoga instructor
Complete 3 assessment visits over 5 months
Get support in making long-term lifestyle decisions
You may be eligible if:



You are a breast cancer survivor who is between 1-12 months beyond the completion of
primary therapy (surgery, radiation and chemotherapy)
You have received chemotherapy
You are in remission
