Ancient Egypt
In ancient Egypt is a part of the western hemisphere civilizations, located in Africa. This
civilization; ancient Egypt was consisted of its famous pyramids, the Nile River, pharaohs and
was notable for its stories of Moses/Cleopatra, however Egypt wasn’t the first civilization, like
Mesopotamia was or different have any philosophers such as Confucius, Lao Tzu, Aristotle or
philosophies that are world-wide practiced. So, what makes ancient Egypt civilizations more
memorable over the other western civilizations?

The History Channel website provides information with articles on ancient Egypt. This
specific article and the other articles to follow offer information on the pyramids in Egypt, when
they were built and how they were developed. It also states what are the purpose of pyramids and
the significance of the pyramids to the villages surrounded by the pyramids. The article states,
“The pyramid's smooth, angled sides symbolized the rays of the sun and were designed to help
the king's soul ascend to heaven and join the gods, particularly the sun god Rai.,” signifies that
the pyramids holds more value that its credited it to.

Introduces the voices of the people in the ancient civilizations, from how they survived in
the different societies. The reader includes different points of views/ essays of each civilization.
This was designed to background sources on each civilization’s characteristic. Lastly, it provides
the variety key themes of each society. The reader mentions a selection from Praise of the
Scribe’s Profession, “It is worth more than an inheritance in Egypt than a tomb in the west,”

states there is more to Egypt than its pharaohs, rulers, and the elite royal.

This website presents the chronological order of the ancient western civilizations,
including ancient Egypt. As you visit each of the civilizations’ time period, the information goes
more in depth in with the specific time with what took place in each society. The website
mentioned, “3200 BC: Upper and Lower Egypt united by Menes,1st. Pharaoh, 2900BC:
Irrigation and drainage projects, 2500 BC: Great Pyramids/Sphinx built at Gizah,” iiiwhich gives
the dates of when the different events took place in ancient Egypt.

This website provides the information on ancient Egypt’s lifestyle, geography,
gods/goddess, pharaohs and etc. It presents each section with more in depth information on each,
and focuses more on just ancient Egypt. This site mentions, “As 'Lord of the Two Lands' the
pharaoh was the ruler of Upper and Lower Egypt.,” ivstates the significance of being a pharaoh in
Egypt and what the pharaoh rules in Egypt.

This source states the different aspects of other civilizations in the western hemisphere,
other than Egypt. It also examines how each civilization was developed and what each
civilization was consisted of as in agriculture and irrigation. The data in this source presented
each time period of the societies, social structures, and the triumphs of each civilization as well
as the downfalls. The World History text discusses, “Menes, the first king of Egypt’s First
Dynasty, is credited with unifying Upper and Lower around 3000BC…separated by periods of
weak central governments ,social unrest and foreign invasions.,” vsignifies the social structures
of ancient Egypt.

The Egyptian text focuses on the history of Egypt before it became the unified Egypt, the
old/middle/new kingdoms, the rise and fall of ancient Egypt. This text also introduces the
different cultures; Greeks, Persians, Athenians, Chaldeans that were a part of the Egyptian land
and culture. It presents the variety of history in a story based situation. The source mentions,
“The Greeks therefore referred to Lower Egypt as the delta of the Nile, because of its triangular
shape,” clearly states that Egypt had association with the Greeks of Greece.

Press, 2001.
This encyclopedia touch bases on the traditional practices of the Egyptian Culture. It touch bases
on the architecture, the Bronze statuettes, the characteristics of the life-style of the Egyptians,
religion and etc. The text presents important dates of events that Egypt has been through.
“Divine cults played an important role in the Egyptian economy. Great numbers of people were
involved in the fulfillment of ritual…,” signifies how the people of Egypt respected their
Egyptian culture.
