Target Audience:
Pharmacists involved in the management of cancer patients. All nurses, advanced practice providers, physicians, health
professionals and students involved in the management of cancer patients may also participate. This activity is not targeted
for pharmacy technician education.
Educational Goal:
Provide pharmacists with an overview of medication allergies, adverse drug reactions, and the management of anaphylaxis.
Learning Objectives:
At the completion of this activity, the participant will be able to:

Differentiate drug allergies from adverse drug reactions

Distinguish the appropriateness of a same class drug for a patient with a documented drug allergy

Implement the first line treatment for a patient experiencing an anaphylactic reaction
Type of Activity:
Application-based
Registration Information:
On-site registration is required immediately prior to the activity (registration opens 20 minutes prior to and closes 5 minutes
after activity start time). There is no registration fee for this educational activity.
Continuing Education Information:
® The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education as
a provider of continuing pharmacy education. This application-based activity has been approved for 1.0 contact hours
(0.1CEU) under universal activity number 0532-0000-15-012-L01-P.
To successfully complete this activity and be awarded continuing education credit, the following requirements must be met:

Present for the duration of the educational activity,

Participation in the activity learning assessment(s),

Submission of Activity Evaluation.*
*Evaluation must be completed and submitted online by Close of Business 11/11/15
