FORMS OF GOVERNMENT PROJECT
AMERICAN GOVERNMENT
MR. CERNUSKA – FALL 2011
Goal: Governments around the world take on many different forms. However,
governments fulfill the same purpose: to provide control and direction to the people
that live under it’s authority. The purpose of the project is for students to examine,
compare, and present information on an assigned form of government and country.
Students will be assigned one of the following forms of government: Constitutional
Monarchy (United Kingdom), Oligarchy (Sudan), Theocracy (Holy See), Democracy
(Switzerland), Republic (France), and Dictatorship (North Korea).
Directions:
1. Use a poster board to illustrate all information. Your poster board will be divided
into four squares. Each square will contain a different topic (see diagram on
below). The name of your Country should be in the center of the poster and be
large, bold, and easy to read. You must either type or neatly handwrite all
information on your poster.
2. All sources used on the project need to be listed on the back of the poster.
3. Students will present their project to the rest of class during the week of 19 SEPT
2011. Presentations need to be between 5-10 minutes in length. Create a
powerpoint (about four slides long, that provides an outline of the information)
4. If you have any questions, ask for clarification.
Country
1. Hand draw a current colored map of
your country. Be sure to list major cities and
bodies of water.
2. Provide a brief history of it (1-2
paragraphs)

with the United States
(Create two different columns)
