JOB DESCRIPTION
Post:
Database Manager – Centre for Maternal Newborn Health (CMNH)
Responsible to:
Head of Monitoring and Evaluation
Summary of role:
To work as part of the CMNH team based at LSTM to support quantitative data management for
complex and large datasets from multiple sites. This role would suit an IT-trained person with an
understanding of the research environment and experience of dealing with complex datasets,
preferably in a healthcare sector setting.
The post will be based in Liverpool.
Key Responsibilities:
 Design and maintain (relational) databases, including performance, integrity and security,
across CMNH to support data collection, processing, storage and retrieval
 Maintain standard of data management, including writing database documentation, data
standard and version control procedures and definitions for the data dictionary
 Provide guidance and recommend appropriate database solutions
 Contribute towards the analysis and interpretation of quantitative data
 Work in a safe manner adhering to local and legal requirements
 Other duties reasonably consistent with the foregoing as required
