Musical Theatre Classes Costume Guidelines
Children participating in Musical Theatre classes are asked to provide their own
costumes. We have put together some guidelines for everyone to go by. We would
like to thank the parents in advance for taking responsibility with these costumes. In
Musical Theatre it is important for all the children to look different but to have a
recognisable theme running throughout the dance ie colour, style, time era etc. We ask
that you all take note of the guidelines provided below and allow us to see your
costume choice/ideas in advance of the show which will allow us to approve it.
P5-7 CLASS- WICKED (FOR GOOD)Green and pink theme (dark green ie grass green and pale pink) items to look forflowly dress and/or skirt and vest top. Soft style of dance and girls will have bare legs
and feet throughout. When purchasing dress/skirt please provide appropriate under
garments to allow for full movement throughout. Pictures below to be used as rough
guidelines. Your child should know if they are an Elphaba or a Glinda. The elphaba’s
should be in the green dresses and Glinda’s in the pink dresses.
P5- S1 CLASS- LEGALLY BLONDE (OMG)Pink, white and denim theme. Items to look for- jeans, denim jackets, skirts, dresses,
shorts, t-shirts. This is a very girly theme and should be quite a casual look. Girls
should be able to make this costume up from items in their own wardrobes. Footwear
should be simple eg white trainers and you can add accessories such as frilly ankle
socks if you wish.
P2-4 CLASS- CHITTY CHITTY BANG BANG (ME OLD BAMBOO)
Old fashioned theme. Items to look for- anything dark in colour and very plain
looking, old fashioned style dresses/ skirts and tops for girls, shorts and old shirts for
boys. Items can be made dirty looking to give it a more authentic look. Children
should go bare foot on stage.
P2-4 CLASS- MARY POPPINS
(SUPERCALIFRAGILISTIEXPIALIDOCIOUS)
Old fashioned theme. Items to look for- in contrast to chitty chitty bang bang this
costume should be bright and vibrant in colour but still with the old fashioned theme
running throughout. Children should go bare foot on stage.
