The DEA New England Field Division’s Clandestine Laboratory Enforcement Team designed this Clan Lab Awareness
Training Program to achieve the following Objectives: Provide a general overview of types and locations of clan labs, with
particular focus on “club drug” labs (GHB, Ecstasy, ketamine) and methamphetamine production; Increase your awareness of
the elements of clan lab operations that will help you immediately recognize a clan lab, and the danger signals of that lab and
the “cooks” or lab operators; Demonstrate mock clan lab equipment, chemicals, and improvised materials commonly found in
clan lab manufacturing, to allow you to make a positive identification of what you may come upon on the street and to assist
you in accurate initial reporting; Present descriptions of hazards common to all clan labs in order to maximize your personnel’s
safety and to protect the public should you encounter this type of clan lab activity while performing your mission.
