"A nation is not worthy to be saved if, in the hour of its fate,
it will not gather up all its jewels of manhood and life, and

"My good friends this is the second time in our history that there has come back from Germany to
Downing Street peace with honor. I believe it is peace in our time." - Prime Minister Neville
Chamberlain (after he signed the Munich Pact with Germany)
"An appeaser is one who feeds a crocodile, hoping it will eat him last." - Prime Minister Winston
Churchill
"I would say to the House, as I said to those who have joined this government: I have nothing to offer
but blood, toil, tears and sweat." - Prime Minister Winston Churchill
We shall not flag or fail. We shall go on to the end. We shall fight in France. We shall fight on the
seas and oceans. We shall fight with growing strength in the air. We shall defend our island,
whatever the cost may be. We shall fight on the beaches. We shall fight on the landing grounds. We
shall fight in the fields and in the streets. We shall fight in the hills. We shall never surrender. --Sir
Winston Churchill

"If you will not fight for right when you can easily win without bloodshed; if you will not fight when
your victory is sure and not too costly; you may come to the moment when you will have to fight with
all the odds against you and only a precarious chance of survival. There may even be a worse case.
You may have to fight when there is no hope of victory, because it is better to perish than to live as
slaves." ---Winston Churchill
Never in the field of human conflict was so much owed by so many to so few--Prime Minister Sir
Winston Churchill (concerning the RAF following the “Battle of Britain)

The broad masses of a population are more amenable to the appeal of rhetoric than to any other
force. --Adolf Hitler
The great masses of the people will more easily fall victims to a big lie than to a small one. --Adolf
Hitler
Make the lie big, make it simple, keep saying it, eventually they will believe it. --Adolf Hitler
The great strength of the totalitarian state is that it forces those who fear it to imitate it. --Adolf Hitler
"It is proof of a base and low mind for one to wish to think with the masses or majority, merely
because the majority is the majority. Truth does not change because it is, or is not, believed by a
majority of the people." ---Giordano Bruno

In landing operations, retreat is impossible, to surrender is as ignoble as it is foolish… above all else
remember that we as attackers have the initiative, we know exactly what we are going to do, while
the enemy is ignorant of our intentions and can only parry our blows. We must retain this
tremendous advantage by always attacking rapidly, ruthlessly, viciously, and without rest."--General
George S. Patton Jr.

September 14 1944 in Western France on the Crozon Peninsula: "I am to surrender to you" German
LtGen Ramcke stated through his interpreter to Brig. General Canham, Assistant Division
Commander of the U.S. 8th Inf. Div. LtGen Ramcke also stated: "that he wanted to see Brig General
Canham credentials". General Canham pointed to the American G.I's standing about with their M-1
rifles and stated: "These soldiers are my credentials". The American Generals last phrase put the
NAZI in his proper place.

Urge all of your men to pray, not alone in church, but everywhere. Pray when driving. Pray when
fighting. Pray alone. Pray when fighting. Pray by night and pray by day. Pray for the cessation of
immoderate rains, for good weather for Battle. Pray for the defeat of our wicked enemy whose
banner is injustice and whose good is oppression. Pray for victory. Pray for our Army, and pray for
peace. We must march together, all out for God. General George S. Patton

The ultimate determinate in war is a man on the scene with a gun. This man is the final power in
war. He is control, he determines who wins. There are those that would dispute this as an absolute,
but it is my belief that while other means may critically influence war today, after whatever
devastation and destruction may be inflicted on any enemy, if the stratagist is forced to strive for
final and ultimate control, he must establish, or present as an inevitable prospect, a man on the scene
with a gun. This is the soldier. Rear Admiral Wylie, USN WWII.

"A bright light filled the plane. The first shock wave hit us. We were eleven and a half miles slant
range from the atomic explosion but the whole airplane cracked and crinkled from the blast... We
turned back to look at Hiroshima. The city was hidden by that awful cloud... mushrooming, terrible
and incredibly tall." - Colonel Paul Tibbets, the pilot of the B-29 Enola Gay

It is certain that the two World Wars in which I have participated would not have occurred had we
been prepared. It is my belief that adequate preparation on our part would have prevented or
materially shortened all our wars beginning with that of 1812. Yet, after each of our wars, there has
always been a great hue and cry to the effect that there will be no more wars, that disarmament is the
sure road to health, happiness, and peace; and that by removing the fire department, we will remove
fires. These ideas spring from wishful thinking and from erroneous belief that wars result from
logical processes. There is no logic in wars. They are produced by madmen. No man can say when
future madmen will reappear. I do not say that there will be no more wars; I devoutly hope that
there will not, but I do say that the chances of avoiding future wars will be greatly enhanced if we are
ready. General George S. Patton Jr.
"It is my earnest hope - indeed the hope of all mankind - that from this solemn occasion a better
world shall emerge out of the blood and carnage of the past, a world found upon faith and
understanding, a world dedicated to the dignity of man and the fulfillment of his most cherished wish
for freedom, tolerance and justice."… "Let us pray that peace be now restored to the world, and that
God will preserve it always." - General Douglas MacArthur, Supreme Allied Commander of South-West
Pacific (1945)
