Prerequisites: Following you will find the database prerequisites for Asset Core working on an Oracle database. Packages to install: Oracle packages that need to be installed:Oracle Database 10g Release 2 (10.2.0.1.0) to be downloaded from: http:// www.oracle.com/technology/software/products/database/index.html In addition the following two patches must be downloaded from http://metalink.oracle.com/: • • 10g Release 2 (10.2.0.3) Patch Set 2 for Microsoft Windows (32-Bit) Patch p5846376 For Bug 10g R2 N o te The BMC FootPrints Asset Core software will not execute as expected if these two patches are not installed. Launch the file setup.exe from the downloaded file. 2. The installation wizard is displayed on the screen with its first window Installation Method. 3. Select the option Advanced Installation. 4. In the next two windows Specify Home Details and Available Product Components leave all values as they are and click Next to continue. 8. Click Next to continue. 13. The Summary window is displayed on the screen with the summary of your installation selections. 14. The Oracle database system is now installed on your device. Installing Oracle Patches After the Oracle database system is installed the following patches must be installed as well: • • 10G Release 2 (10.2.0.3) Patch Set 2 for Microsoft Windows (32 bit) Patch P5846376 for bug 10G R2 Installing 10G Release 2 (10.2.0.3) Patch Set 2 for Microsoft Windows (32 bit) To install the patch proceed as follows: 1. Launch the setup.exe file of the downloaded patch file. The Welcome window is displayed on the screen. 2. Click Next to continue. The Summary window is displayed on the screen with the summary of you installation selections. 4. If all options are as desired click the Install button to launch the installation process, which you may following in the next window. Installing Patch P5846376 for bug 10G R2 To install patch 5846373 proceed as follows: 1. Stop all Oracle processes. 2. Open a terminal window. 3. In this window define the ORACLE_HOME environment variable: Set ORACLE_HOME=<Oracle Home Path> 4. Then open the patch directory: cd 5846376 5. Check that the directory that contains the script OPatch is displayed: ORACLE_HOME/db_1/Opatch/ 6. BMC FootPrints Asset Core - Database Reference | Oracle Database | 11 Creating the FootPrints Database Now the Oracle database system is set up and the database for the FootPrints agent can be defined. Proceed as follows: 1. Launch the Database Configuration Wizard. The Welcome window of the wizard is displayed on the screen. 2. Click Next to continue. The Operations window is displayed on the screen. 3. Select Create a Database. 4. Then click Next. The Database Templates window is displayed. 5. Select Custom Database. 6. Then click Next. The Database Identification window is displayed. 7. Enter the name of the new database into the Global Database Name field, the default name is ampdb. 8. Check the box Configure the Database with Enterprise Manager. 11. Click Next to continue. The Database Credentials window is displayed on the screen. 12. Check the Same Password for All Accounts radio button. 13. Enter the password into the respective field and reenter it for confirmation. 14. The Database File Locations window is displayed. 17. Select the Use Oracle-Managed Files option and leave the Database Area value unchanged. 18. Click Next to continue. In the Database Component tab uncheck all boxes apart from the Enterprise Manager Repository. 21. Then select Standard Database Components. The Standard Database Components dialog box is displayed on the screen. 22. Uncheck the Oracle JVM and Oracle XML DB options. 23. Click OK to close the pop-up menu. 24. Then click Next to continue with the wizard. The Initialization Parameters window is displayed. 25. In the Memory tab make the following selections: a) Select the Custom option. b) Then select the Automatic option for Shared Memory Management. • • For the SGA Size enter 60% of your total available physical memory. Then select the Connection Mode tab. a) In this tab select the Dedicated Server Mode option. 28. Then select All Initialization Parameters. The All Initialization Parameters pop-up dialog box is displayed on the screen. 29. Change the cursor_sharing parameter to FORCE. 30. Click Next to continue without any changes. The Creation Options window is displayed. 33. Click Finish to terminate the wizard and confirm all settings and launch the creation of the database. A progress window is displayed on the screen on which you can follow the advancement of the process. 34. After the database is created an information window is displayed on the screen recapitulating the information about the new database. 35. Proceed as follows to do so: 1. The Oracle Net Configuration Wizard is displayed on the screen with its first window. 2. Click Next without making any modifications. The Listener Configuration, Listener window is displayed on the screen. 3. Make sure the Add option is selected. 4. Then click Next to continue. The Listener Configuration, Listener Name window is displayed on the screen. 5. Select the TCP protocol and move it to the right into the Selected Protocols box. 7. Click Next. The Listener Configuration, TCP/IP Protocol window is displayed on the screen. 8. Make sure the Use the standard port number of 1521 option is selected. 9. Click Next. The Listener Configuration, More Listeners? window is displayed on the screen. 10. This time select Local Net Service Name Configuration . 13. Click Next. The Local Net Service Name Configuration window is displayed on the screen. 14. Make sure Add is selected. 15.
