Mapping the
responses to specific
sub-fields reveled
the following:
A) The average score
for questions related
to cultural
anthropology
content was 78%,
physical
anthropology
content was 75%,
and archaeological
knowledge was 84%.
Therefore, total
scores for each of the
subdisciplines

minimum

After this cycle the
Exit Exam will be
reviewed with the
new faculty
member of the
Anthropology
Program to ensure
that it adequately
reflects the key
learning objectives
of his/her teaching
strategies. The
Anthropology
Program will also
discuss all the
SLOAs for the
program and how
these can be meet
across our
curriculum. The
action items from
the 2014-2015 will
be discussed with
the new faculty
member.

The Concept Test
and Content Test
were discarded, and
a new integrated
Exit Exam was
developed with new
questions. A
concerted effort was
made to ensure that
questions on the
exam reflect key
areas of
anthropological
knowledge and the
questions were
unambiguous in
nature.
Objective 2:
Demonstrate an
understanding
of the culture
concept and of
related
concepts,
including
cultural
relativism and
holism.
The curriculum for
ANTH400 Capstone
Seminar in
Anthropology was
completely revised
along the lines of the
action plan from the
2014-2015 report.

1It
should be noted that the Anthropology Program is in a significant period of transition. Our cultural anthropologist is retiring and the
Anthropology faculty will be reduced from 2.5 FTE to 2.0 FTE in Fall 2016. We anticipate the hiring of a temporary faculty member to instruct
ANTH 381, an core course in our assessment plan, this Spring Semester. By Fall 2016, we will have a tenure track position joining our Physical
Anthropologist. At this point, we do not know if the new position will be a Cultural Anthropologist or an Archaeologist. Depending on who is hired,
the Anthropology curriculum and our assessment plan will need to be thoroughly revalued following this reduction in anthropology faculty.
