HIGH SCHOOL WORLD HISTORY/AMERICAN HISTORY
(Grading Procedures)
Instructor: Mr. Fee
Course Length: 1 semester = World History / Full year = American History
Grading:
Students will be graded on multiple aspects in class. They will have a daily class
participation grade, which deals with being on time and on task in the lesson being
taught; so their behavior is conducive to learning for themselves and the students around
them. The breakdown for this is found at the bottom of the page. Students can also be
graded on different assignments dealing with vocabulary, reading, note taking, current
events, extended activities, writing activities, map activities, group activities,
presentations, quizzes, chapter exams and Final exams/presentations but are not limited
to just this. All the individual assignments, daily participation grades, and exams will be
added together to get a point total for the grading period. This point total will then be
divided into the student’s total points earned, which will produce a percentage that will
be plugged into the grading scale in the student/parent handbook. The end result will be
the student’s letter grade for the grading period.
In most instances student daily work will be individually lower in total points than
major projects, presentations, or exams. The frequency of daily work makes it add up
quickly, so it is important to work on all aspects that will be graded: daily lesson
participation, assignments, presentations, quizzes, and exams.
*Extra Credit is not given! If you feel that your grade is not where you want it,
you can first see if you have any missing work and make that up. Making up missing
work is acceptable, but you may not receive full credit, depending on the length of time
the work has been missing. If you do not have missing work and want to improve your
grade you maybe able to redo an assignment that you received a lower grade on; this
needs to be approved by the teacher prior to redoing. Exams, quizzes, and major
projects/presentations will not be redone, unless a very special circumstance arises.
Daily Class Participation Grade Breakdown:
Students are graded on a 3 point daily scale. Students need to meet the following
criteria to earn and keep 3 points on a daily basis.
-Be on time and prepared: Students have 4 minutes passing time between classes to get
their stuff and be in their next class. They need to be in their assigned desk, with book,
notebook, writing utensil, and assignment if one when the bell rings.
(No cell phones or Excessive want/use of passes out of class)
-Participate in the lesson presented: Students need to be on task to progress through the
instructional objectives for the lesson being taught.
-Follow directions: Students need to follow the classroom rules and the daily lesson
rules, for the safety of all and for the environment to be stable and educational.
*All of the above must be performed to receive 3 points for your daily grade. Not
performing one of the above will result in the loss of daily points. The amount will be
determined by the severity of the situation and circumstance.
