developing the teacher’s knowledge and practices. Discussion on implications of
this debate in the educational field.
• Workshop on Composition and Settings I - 3 Credits
Student’s practical experiments, investigating technical and methodological
procedures and studies on theatre languages associated with the practical and
theoretical goals of their research projects.
• Workshop on Composition and Settings II - 3 Credits
Student’s practical experiments in a deeper level, addressing technical and
aesthetic principles for the realization of their projects.
• Brazilian Culture and Practice - 2 Credits
Brazilian culture and theatrical practice. The condition of the Brazilian scene
establishing relationships among the erudite art, the popular and mass culture.
Relationships between dramaturgy and scenic space.
• Playwriting in Contemporary Scene - 3 Credits
Study of scenic practices whose creative processes are emancipated from
figuration and text as the first reference of meaning. Investment in the
kinaesthetic experience of the viewer, offering a plural perspective of meanings.
Composed by the drama scene characterized by the circulation of images,
fragmentation and discontinuity, through the dynamic and interactive
exploration of different sensitive resources and of the cultural, artistic and / or
technological hybridization.
• Advanced Studies in Performing Arts - 3 Credits
Studies of different author-creator’s thoughts and their contribution to the
contemporary scene, identifying the concepts of theatricality and the principles
that guide the creative process.
• Studies and Practices of Word- 3 Credits
The creative possibilities of the word as a generator of images, sounds and
senses, as well as writing and voicing practices. Approaches between literature
experiences and oral poetry with poetic and scenic writing. The word as
performance in reading, theatre and other artistic or media interfaces.
Articulations of words, listening and silence. The actor and the word.
• Photoethnography: Research in arts and humanities - 1 Credit
The history, traditions and practices of photography in the anthropological
production. The Photoethnography as anthropological narrative. The use of
photography in field research and ethnographic writing.
• Memory, narrative, experience and knowledge in performing arts - 3
credits
Development of theoretical and practical procedures with emphasis on
relationships among memory, experience, knowledge construction and
authorship in the performing arts field. From the oral narrative and writing
formative experiences of personal trajectory of the participants, linked to their
motivations and interests, we seek to understand the origins of the scientific
curiosity of individuals and the relationships between their artistic practice and
teaching, theoretical frameworks, epistemological conceptions, aesthetic choices,
pedagogical, methodological and professionals, and their training processes both
within and outside the academic environment.
• Performance and Spectacularity - 3 Credits
Study of different cultural events from the point of view of Ethnocenology.
Introduction to Anthropology and the notions of Culture, Acculturation and
Inculturation. Establish common principles among anthropological Theatre,
Theatre Anthropology and Performance. The notion of the spectacular, the
theatricality based on the Ethnocenological approach.
• Research in Performing Arts - 3 Credits
Presentation and discussion of issues related to the configuration of
contemporary society that deserve to be studied, taking as reference the
concepts of science, art and spectacle. Discussion on the existing research
concepts. Information about different types of research and discussion of the
possibilities of adequacy between object and method. Review and improvement
of the research project in performing arts.
• Body Poetics in the contemporary scene - 3 Credits
Studies on the body in the contemporary scene, from the understanding of
technical, ethical, poetic, aesthetic and political assumptions that pervade
different choreographic practices, emphasizing a non-hierarchical view of these
practices. Technical patterns, somatic approaches, creative procedures,
discursive and reflective practices as supports for the preparation of bodies
available for creation. Intersections among artistic disciplines, the scenic space
fragmentation,
cultural
mobility,
desterritorialization
as
contexts
of
contemporary choreographic practices.
• Theatrical Reception and Contemporaneity - 3 Credits
Types of theatrical relationships and their approaches’ methods. Assumptions of
practice and theatrical reception in contemporaneity. Staging and aesthetic
experience. Reading and cognition.
• Research in Progress Seminar - 3 Credits
Monitoring and discussion of student’s research projects, regarding the
deepening of theoretical concepts and raising critical bibliography. For the
performing researches a project of composition and staging will be asked.
• Dissertation Preparation Seminar - 3 Cred.
Art and Research: links between creation, reflection and writing. Aimed at
improving the final text of the dissertation or memorial staging monitoring.
• Theatre No Show and Atorialidade - 3 Cred.
Study spectacular, from the notion of "society of the spectacle" and other
contributions of lyricist and Situationist movements. smaller theater without
spectacle theater, the emptiness of the scene and atorialidade Carmelo Bene.
Affinities of the notions studied in Bene with the work of other contemporary
artists, especially the performing arts.
