It makes sense to call the Preamble to the Constitution a mission statement for the United States because ti
describes why the government was being created
The Constitution was created by the "Framers"
The Preamble can be used to evaluate how the federal government is doing its job by enforcing its main goals such as ensuring
domestic tranquility and providing for the common defense
:Punishing those that have done morally wrong things
: Not allowing revolutions to be created in their own country
: Being able to protect their citizens from outside threats
: Keeping citizens safe
: Allowing people to speak for themselves
3.8 trillion dollars.
The task of the Mini-Q is to make changes in the federal budget based on priority
: A preliminary or preparatory statement; an introduction
: A person who shapes or creates a concept, plan, or system
: A system that maintains the administration of what is just especially by the impartial adjustment of
conflicting claims
: Means of defending or protecting oneself, one's team, or another
: The quality of state of being free
: A budget that compromises the spending and revenues of a federal government
The analytical question asked by this Mini-Q is what is the percentage of funds that need to go to each section of the federal
budget?
The terms in the question that need to be defined include the specific terms of each budget cluster
Using the five goals of the Preamble, find the most important spending changes necessary in the federal budget based on the
three clusters of the big five, the medium five, and the little guys
The budget helps people by providing millions of dollars to families to help meet basic expenses and be a safety net for
dependent people
Circus performers or firemen use a safety net to catch a falling person as they descend. A financial safety net prevents people
from falling into debt and poverty
Other physical assets include schools, libraries, colleges, police stations, fire stations, and many other
government buildings
A budget might send a signal to other nations in the form of a sudden change of assets, such as military spending might indicate
a war or attack
Budgeting is a difficult process because it puts so much at stake from warring other countries to having a section fail because of
insufficient funding
What it spends defines what it does for that year because the spending goes directly to it's own branches
The connection between the flag and the words of Professor Schick are that as the stripes are not fully complete, not everything
that the federal government does can have the amount of money necessary because it is limited
3.8 trillion dollars
The three largest expenditures were Medicare and Medicaid, Social Security, and Defense. It made up about 60% of the budget,
which was 2.3 trillion dollars
It makes about 5% of the budget. The goals that are laid out in the preamble that address this part of the budget includes the
goal of "To provide general welfare" because that goal includes creating a stable government
The part that comes as a surprise is the FBI getting only a small fraction of the budget
Interest on National Debt, Safety Net Programs for the Poor and Elderly, Defense, Social Security, and Medicare, Medicaid, and
Health
82%
Medicare is the protection in the case of a medical emergency,
which helps people live a good life through the economy
To Insure Domestic Tranquility Social Security is to keep a record of everyone and to catalogue
everyone to make sure that no revolution can take place
Provide for the common defense Defense is to protect the country from outside threats and to keep
their independence
To Promote the General Welfare The safety net program is the protection against the poor and
disabled in the form of money being provided to the people that
To Promote the General Welfare need it, which comes from the economy
The interest on debt is to keep the economy going, which is
represented in the form of making a strong national government
To Promote the General Welfare
I think that the most important change that needs to be made in this cluster is relocating 10 billion from social security and placing it into the safety net programs for
the poor and elderly, as in the preamble the pursuit for life is more exaggerated than the protection of borders
Justice is the regulation of morals, which is maintained
in a justice system, known in the preamble as "to
Establish Justice"
Homeland Security, Justice, Education, Transportation, Veterans Benefits and Services
Homeland Security is border control and
government agencies that run the border of the
country, and makes sure that there can be no
attacks from outsiders, which is ensuring domestic
tranquility
10.2%
The benefits and services are part of
fighting in the military, and afterwards,
Transportation

To Establish Justice
of life and the pursuit
which includes the
of happiness
To Ensure Domestic Tranquility
Secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity
I think that the federal government should play a larger role in education, as education is how we evolve over time, so it needs
to be one of the best things that we do
I think that the most important spending change to be made in this cluster is that 10 billion should be moved from the Veterans Benefits section to the education
section because as emphasized in the preamble, making the next generation stronger and smarter is one of the main points
The FBI is a part of the
criminal justice system,
which goal is to establish
justice
The National Park Service is
part of the inalienable rights
in the form of providing life
through maintaining the
ecosystem

the universe
Natural resources and the
environment are part of the
inalienable rights in the form of
sustaining the ecosystem
Energy is to promote the general
welfare because it helps make a strong
government and helps people live a
good life
I think that the most important change that needs to be made is that NASA gives 4 billion dollars to the National Park Service, because based on the preamble, the inalienable right to
live takes priority over research
Barack Obama
The three figures standing in front of his desk are some of the major parts of the budget, including defense, Medicare, and
Medicaid, and I think that the size of the figures represents the amount of money in the budget that they currently have
Each figure shows some of the goals of the preamble, in the form of defense and Medicare in place of the common defense and to promote the general welfare. The author thinks
that the budget does not fulfill the goals of the preamble as the defense is taunting the others. The cartoon is an accurate illustration of the federal budget at the time
The scale of the images does accurately reflect the FY 2012 budget
We can use this cartoon to show that each section of the budget is not balanced and that they do need to be balanced
