Mr. young challenged his class to draw a quadrilateral
with exactly 3 right angles. Explain why such a shape is
impossible to draw.
The shape is impossible to draw. In a quadrilateral, the sum
of all four angle measurement is always 360 degrees. If three
of the angles are right angles, then these three angles add up
to 270 degrees. The fourth angle would have to be 90 degrees
because 360 – 270 = 90. This means there can’t be exactly 3
right angles.
