BOUGHT ANY MEDICINES ON PRESCRIPTION? Want to make a claim? If you have recently seen a doctor who prescribed any medicine(s), your ahm OSHC may reimburse you for the cost. What is prescription medicine? Remember ‘Prescription medicine’ refers to medication that requires a prescription from a doctor, to enable the medicine to be provided. Non-prescription medication • For you to make a claim, the prescription medicine must be listed on the Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme (PBS) and cost more than $35.40 per prescribed item (as at 1/1/12) Medicines, vitamins and herbal medicines that can be purchased ‘over the counter’ for example at a pharmacy, chemist or health food store, without prescription from a doctor are non-prescription medications. ahm OSHC does not pay a benefit for these medications. •You must have an itemised receipt for the purchase of your prescription medicine from a pharmacy or chemist I want to claim for my prescription medicine • You can claim up to a maximum benefit of $50 per prescribed medicine and a maximum of $300 per year for a single ahm OSHC policy and $600 per year for a family ahm OSHC policy. • Easy! After your visit to a doctor take your prescription for medication to a pharmacy • Purchase the medication and make sure you receive an itemised receipt • To make a claim with ahm OSHC, choose one of the following options: ONLINE Visit ahmoshc.com and click on ‘Make a claim online’. David can claim this through his ahm OSHC policy because the cost of the medicine was greater than the minimum PBS amount of $35.40.
