NEW FUNDING OPPORTUNITIES
Partnerships for International Research and Education (PIRE) NSF 14-587
Partnerships for International Research and Education (PIRE) is an NSF-wide
program that supports international activities across all NSF supported disciplines.
The primary goal of PIRE is to support high quality projects in which advances in
research and education could not occur without international collaboration. PIRE
seeks to catalyze a higher level of international engagement in the U.S. science
and engineering community. A single organization may submit one preliminary
proposal as the lead institution. Full proposals will be accepted by invitation only.
MSU has set an internal deadline for September 09, 2014.
Please review the following links for further details.
Institutionally limited proposal:

Michigan State Foundation Discretionary Funding Initiative (DFI)
The Discretionary Funding Initiative (DFI), funded by the Michigan State
Foundation, provides bridge funds for tenure-stream faculty for additional studies
needed for resubmission of an unsuccessful grant application. Please complete a
PPF to begin the process with DER.
Deadline: September 18, 2014
Fulbright U.S. Scholar Program
The core Fulbright U.S. Scholar Program provides approximately 800 teaching
and/or research grants to U.S. faculty and experienced professionals in a wide
variety of academic and professional fields. Grants are available in over 125
countries worldwide.
Deadline: August 01, 2014
Development of Bulk Gallium Oxide Substrates BAA-RQKS-2014-0011
Next generation military sensing systems depend on continued electronic
materials innovation leading to new electronic device technologies with enabling
performance capabilities. There is a need for a US source to develop and scale
β-Ga2O3 crystal growth and substrate fabrication processes to underpin and
help drive the development of next generation ultra-high performance devices.
Deadline: August 04, 2014
Chemical Oceanography PD 98-1670
The Chemical Oceanography Program supports research into the chemical
components, reaction mechanisms, and geochemical pathways within the ocean
and at its interfaces with the solid earth and the atmosphere. Major emphases
include: studies of material inputs to and outputs from marine waters;
orthochemical and biological production and transformation of chemical
compounds and phases within the marine system; and the determination of
reaction rates and study of equilibria.
Deadline: August 15, 2014
Finite Element Modeling Services DTNH22-14-R-00031
The scope of this contract is to develop and exercise crash simulations of vehicle
safety research tests to assist in predict the impact of potential safety
implications. The specific crash simulation efforts will be issued through task
orders.
Deadline: August 21, 2014
ADVANCE: Increasing the Participation and Advancement of Women in Academic
Science and Engineering Careers (ADVANCE) NSF 14-573
The goals of the ADVANCE program are (1) to develop systemic approaches to
increase the representation and advancement of women in academic STEM
careers; (2) to develop innovative and sustainable ways to promote gender equity
in the STEM academic workforce; and (3) to contribute to the development of a
more diverse science and engineering workforce. ADVANCE also has as its goal to
contribute to and inform the general knowledge base on gender equity in the
academic STEM disciplines.
Deadline: LOI August 20, 2014; full proposal October 03, 2014
Blood Pressure Measurement Technologies for Low-Resource Settings in the US
and India (U01) RFA-EB-14-002
The purpose of this FOA is to solicit research leading to the development of new
blood-pressure measurement technologies for rapid, minimally intrusive, flexible
monitoring and management of hypertension in underserved populations. These
technologies must be noninvasive and minimally obtrusive. They should be usable
in public areas for high-throughput screening, and/or be designed for individual
use by untrained individuals in their own homes or regional healthcare settings.
Deadline: LOI August 26, 2014; full proposal September 26, 2014
Neuroscience Information Framework (U24) RFA-DA-15-009
The goals of the Neuroscience Information Work is to catalog resources and data
to understand: 1) What types of resources (data, tools, materials, services) are
available to the neuroscience community 2) How many are there 3) What
domains do they cover and what domains do they not cover 4) Where are they
(websites, databases, literature, supplementary material, PDF files, desk drawers)
5) Who uses these resources and data and 6) Who creates them?
Deadline: LOI August 26, 2014, full proposal September 26, 2014
NIH Transformative Research Awards (R01) RFA-RM-14-003
The NIH Transformative Research Awards complement NIH’s traditional,
investigator-initiated grant programs by supporting individual scientists or groups
of scientists proposing groundbreaking, exceptionally innovative, original and/or
unconventional research with the potential to create new scientific paradigms,
establish entirely new and improved clinical approaches, or develop
transformative technologies. Little or no preliminary data are expected. Projects
must clearly demonstrate the potential to produce a major impact in a broad area
of biomedical or behavioral research
Deadline: September 10, 2014
Sensors, Dynamics, and Control (SDC) PD 14-7569
The Sensors, Dynamics, and Control (SDC) program supports fundamental
research on the analysis, measurement, monitoring and control of complex
dynamical and structural systems, including development of new analytical,
computational and experimental tools, and novel applications to engineered and
natural systems. Program objectives are the discovery of new phenomena and the
investigation of innovative methods and applications for dynamics, measurement,
and control.
Deadline: September 15, 2014
Service Enterprise Systems (SES) PD 10-1787
The SES program supports research on decision making related to design,
planning, and operation of commercial, nonprofit, and institutional service
enterprises with the goal of improving their overall effectiveness and cost
reduction. Research is supported that is both grounded in an interesting and
relevant application and requires the development of novel analytical and
computational methodologies that may be of broader interest. Topics of interest
include healthcare operations and medical decision making; policies and
incentives in healthcare, energy, and other public service institutions; financial
engineering and risk management; transportation and humanitarian logistics; and
national security. Of particular interest are methods that incorporate increasingly
rich and diverse sources of data and information to support decision making.
