Community Affairs Research Associate Job Opportunity
Job Summary
Provides research support to Community Development economists on research projects, policy- briefing
material, and speeches to the public. Provides support by collecting and analyzing data, conducting
literature searches, managing databases, and writing summaries of economic and community development
issues.
Key Activities
 Assists Community Development economists on research projects by collecting, formatting, and
analyzing data; performing basic econometric and statistical analysis; and conducting literature searches.
 Writes short summaries on economic and community development issues and drafts or assists in the
production of reports and memos to Community Development Advisors and senior Bank management.
 Manages requests for data and data analysis from Community Development Advisors, senior Bank
management and external stakeholders.
 Responsible for impact measurements for Community Development programs.
 Develops presentation materials for Community Development economists and staff.
 Manages small and large scale databases, including web-based databases.
 Assists with program development and logistics of biannual Community Development research
conference and other events as may be required.
 Manages quarterly survey of conditions in low and moderate income communities.
 Assists in preparation of quarterly reports.
 Performs other duties as may be assigned.
Requirements
 Bachelor’s degree in Economics, Geography, Statistics, Computer Science, Mathematics or related field.
 Outstanding academic record; generally defined by a combination of GPA, advanced coursework,
honors programs, and degree(s) obtained.
 Strong written and oral communication skills.
 Thorough understanding of economic theory and methods.
 Training or experience in mathematics, statistics, and computer programming.
 Training or experience in database management.
 Training or experience using Microsoft Office Suite, database administration software, and statistical
analysis software. Training or experience in geographic information systems strongly preferred.
 Experience as a research assistant at a college or university is preferred.
 This position requires access to confidential supervisory information, access to which is limited to
"Protected Individuals" as defined by regulation of the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve
System. Protected Individuals include, but are not limited to, U.S. citizens, U.S. nationals, and lawful
permanent resident aliens (also known as "green card holders") who are eligible for and seeking United
States citizenship within the requisite timeframes.
