About the ferret
• The ferret is 18-24 inches long including a 5-6
inch tail
• It weights only about one to one and a half
pounds, with males slightly larger than females
• Mainly nocturnal
• Lives in prairie dog burrows and also happens to
prey on prairie dogs.
• They also eat mice, rats, ground squirrels, and
occasionally on birds and insects.

• The ferret lives in the
Midwest, mostly on
the grassland of the
middle united states
Why the ferret is Endangered
• The main reason that the ferret is on the
brink of extinction is that it is exposed to
habitat loss.
• Conversion of grasslands into agricultural

• THE ENDANGERED SPECIES ACT: This act prohibits
any commercialization of endangered species
• NATIONAL WILDLIFE REFUGE SYSTEM
ADMINISTRATION ACT:Institutes wild life refuge, areas
for the protection of fish and wild life that are endangered
of threatened.
• LACEY ACT: Provides a important tool in the effort of
gaining control over the smuggling and trade of illegally
taken fish and wild life that are endangered.
• THE NEBRASKA ENDANGERED SPECIES ACT:
