Francisco Viteri serves as the general manager of the Agropecuaria Popoyán, S.A., which exports fruits and vegetables to countries in Central
America as well as the United States, Netherlands, Spain, the Caribbean, and Canada. In 2010, the Guatemalan Association of Agriculture Exporters
named him “Exporter of the Year.” Francisco is also a founder of PIPAA (Comprehensive Program on Agricultural and Environmental Protection),
the Federación Asociaciones Agrícolas de Guatemala, and AgroSalud. He helped create protocols for exporting tomatoes and peppers under the
Central America Free Trade Agreement. Under Francisco’s leadership, Popoyán has joined an innovative Dutch technology company to open a
training and research center called CCIPPP (Centro de Capacitación Innovación y Producción Popoyan-Priva) in Guatemala. The first tropical
center of its kind in Latin America, CCIPPP will train more than 2,000 growers from the region over the next two years.
