• He had 2 brothers and 2 sisters. There names
were Albertine de Broglie, Laure Marie Pauline,
Phillipe de Broglie, Maurice de Broglie.
Famous Models
• He is best known for his research on quantum
theory.
• This is the theoretical basis of modern physics
that explains the nature, behavior of matter,
energy on the atomic and subatomic level.
Louis’s Theory
• He discovered the Theory of Electrons. It is also
called the Quantum Theory.
• The De Broglie equation predicts that all moving
particles have wave characteristics.
Thoughts and Ideas
• Louis saw that only odd numbers of wave lengths
are allowed in a circular orbit of fixed radius.
• He also reflected on the fact that light at one
time thought to be strictly a wave phenomenon
has both wave and particle characteristics.
Achievement
• He was elected a member of the Academy of
Sciences of the French Institute in 1933, Louis de
Broglie has been its Permanent Secretary for the
mathematical sciences since 1942.
Wavelengths and Circular Orbits
