IT Manager
Grade 7 - (£23,166 - £27,394 pro rata) - 37 hours p/w - term time plus 3 weeks
At Hillside Specialist School we have built an eclectic approach to pupils learning, taking into
account current theories and methods of teaching. All of our pupils display significant difficulties
within the ‘Triad of Impairment’ that is at the heart of the autism. A child’s difficulties in language
and communication, social relationships, and rigid patterns of behaviour/thought/interests form
major barriers to learning. Our role is to help our pupils to come to terms with, and overcome,
these difficulties. This school is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children
and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.
Hillside School & College currently maintains a network of over 100 desktop computers and
laptops, printers, interactive Clever touch boards, network infrastructure including site wide
wireless network and terminal server. We have also introduced a one to one device scheme for all
pupils with the chosen device being iPads.
We are exploring an internal helpdesk system to track and manage support requests, but also deal
with support requests in person (this is currently with an external service provider). Our aim is to
be proactive and approachable, to achieve prompt response times and the best resolution possible
to ensure the issue is fully resolved.
It is envisaged that the successful candidate will write a network strategy and development plan
each year in order to advise on the equipment and areas that need to be considered for
investment, upgrades and replacement in order to keep the schools technology current.
The post requires an excellent organiser to assist the Senior Leadership Team with the
management of the schools IT Service, and who has a strong understanding of networks and the
ability to maintain them. The post would suit an enthusiastic and hardworking person with
previous experience of working within an IT support environment.
How to Apply
All applications should be on the Lancashire County Council application form and can be obtained
from the school website – www.hillside.lancsngfl.ac.uk
Applications should be emailed to Carol Griffin, School Business Support by 12 noon on
20 February 2017 – [email protected] . The proposed interview date is 6 March 2017.
Due to limited resources it is not our policy to write to the unsuccessful candidates so please
assume your application has been unsuccessful if you do not hear from us within 2 weeks of the
closing date. Thank you for your interest
