A Description of the Wheat Germ Lab
1. Weigh out 1 g of wheat germ, the embryo of wheat seeds. These provide the
necessary DNA to extract. Stir repeatedly to gently separate DNA from solution.
2. Put some warm water into the tube. This serves to soften the nuclear membrane,
making the DNA easier to access.
3. Add detergent. This completely breaks the nuclear membrane, releasing the DNA.
4. Add some alcohol. This separates the DNA from the water/detergent solution
