Curriculum Guide Greek – Summer Term Year 7S / 8S Teacher: Lessons: Homework: Mrs. S. Effendowicz 1 x 40min 1 x 40min Introduction: Year 8. Research topics for the Hampton interview will be discussed at the end of the term. Past papers are used elsewhere. Key Objectives: To engage and maintain both interest and curiosity about the Greek world To continue to introduce boys to aspects of the Greek alphabet and language including comprehension and translation skills To provide a stimulating environment for the development of skills related to the learning of Greek To establish links between the Greek language and other languages, including English To promote a range of successful learning experiences through varied teaching strategies and set tasks These key objectives will be covered alongside others in the units of work in each term. The topic areas to be covered for the Summer Term are as follows: Year 8 Revision of vocabulary Interview practice Revision of syntax Past papers Year 7 Introduction to the alphabet Writing in Greek Pronunciation The definite article Regular verb forms – present tense Resources: All boys must bring the following equipment to all lessons: Pen, Pencil, Rubber, Highlighter Pens. All boys have been issued with a textbook ‘Athenaze’ Book 1 by M. Balme and G. Lawall
