Patient Services Representative
Girdwood Health Clinic, Girdwood Alaska
Position Summary
Sets the tone for the entire encounter as first and last contact for patients to our clinic. Provide
administrative support and perform general office functions in Girdwood Health Clinic. Coordinate and
direct patient registration, scheduling and cashiering. Provide superior customer service. This position
may require occasional day travel between Girdwood and Hope.
Essential Functions















Greet patients and visitors. Determine their needs and direct them accordingly.
Complete check in/ check out and patient registration process. Update patient files and accounts
as necessary
Maintain strict confidentiality for all clients and their families in conformity with HIPAA
regulations.
Protect the security of all patient medical and dental records to ensure that confidentiality is
maintained following HIPAA and PPI regulations as outlined in GHCI policy and procedures.
Schedule patients and manage schedule/patient flow for Providers.
Collect patient fees, issue receipts, count and balance daily till.
Possess and utilize professional telephone techniques. Answer telephone, handle and direct calls
appropriately.
Explain office policies, procedures and programs to patients.
Assist patients in gathering data and completion of forms and applications.
Maintain medical record system, patient files, scanning of records, copying and faxing of records
or information as directed. Prepare appropriate forms for patient visits as needed.
Attend scheduled meetings and trainings to update and enhance skills related to medical and
dental office administrative, billing and coding functions
Possess ability to work cooperatively and productively in a team environment and enjoy
working within a fast paced health and wellness care setting.
Open and close medical reception office as directed. Secure cabinets and doors after clinic
hours.
Assist all clinic staff with basic custodial duties, such as emptying trash, vacuuming the
reception area and keeping the clinic clean and tidy.
Perform other tasks as required by Girdwood Health Clinic Executive Director.
Education Requirements: High School Diploma/GED Required
Experience: One or more years related clinical experience or customer service equivalent. Must
understand, or be willing to learn, basic anatomy and medical terminology.
Computer Skills: Proficient computer skills and ability to utilize excel spreadsheet, word processing,
and database programs, familiarity with Electronic Health Records.
Certifications and Licenses: CPR provided by Girdwood Health Clinic
Other Requirements: Annual TB Testing, compliance with ICWA and Mandatory Reporting. Must pass
background check to include pre-employment drug screening.

Work Environment: The Girdwood Health Clinic is a drug and alcohol, tobacco free workplace. This
position requires some prolonged sitting and computer use. Requires hand-eye coordination and
manual dexterity sufficient to operate a keyboard, telephone, calculator and other office equipment
such as fax and copy machine. Requires normal range of hearing and eyesight to record, prepare and
communicate appropriate documents and papers to staff and patients. An individual working in this
position may be exposed to communicable other diseases, physical or chemical hazards, etc. common
within a health care setting.
Pay: Competitive Hourly Wage –DOE
Hours: 25-40 hours per week. Requires a flexible schedule, working Saturdays and some holidays
Benefits: Health insurance and paid time off (PTO) available for employees working more than 30
hours/week.
