Description of the position Institut Curie is located in the center of Paris. It is both a hospital and a research center that hosts more than 1000 scientists in its research laboratories working in various domains of life sciences including physics, chemistry, cell and developmental biology, immunology, signaling, genetics, epigenetics, bioinformatics. Inserm U830 « Genetics and biology of cancer » focuses its interests in the study of the mecanisms of tumour development in human as well as in various experimental models. It uses extensively large scale technologies in genomics, proteomics and phenomics. The present position is oriented toward the quantitative and qualitative applications of Next Generation Sequencing for whole-genome sequencing, exome sequencing, RNA-seq, ChIP-seq, chromatin capture conformation…One of the major objective is to achieve a better understanding of the interactions between germline and somatic variations and of their functional consequences on the biology of the cancerous cells. This research engineer will work in close collaboration with biologists as well as with partner teams on detection of genomic structural variants, functional annotation of variants, genotyping by sequencing either on data generated by the laboratory or available through public databases… Job description Perform analyses of NGS data, downstream of the primary analyses provided by the core NGS and bioinformatics platforms of the Curie Institute. Implement QC procedures for NGS data and provide high level and user friendly interfaces Contribute to the integration of applications and tools for data visualization. Contribute and/or conduct scientific projects using NGS approaches Profile - Advanced university degree (Masters, PhD) in computer science or bioinformatics - Previous experience in analysis of sequencing data. - Excellence in R and Perl programming language - Good basic knowledge in genetics and cancer biology will constitute an advantage Type of position The position is granted by Inserm initially as a CDD for one year that is expected to evolve to a permanent position since Inserm U830 was recently granted an Inserm permanent research engineer position.
