ABB is a strong global supplier of electrical and automation products and solutions to the Marine market. We see a very strong growth
in this segment where ABB can leverage on its reputation and knowledge as a supplier of electrical and control products. ABB´s
development in this market has been very strong during the last years, and we are now preparing for further growth with focus on the
Swedish market. This is why we need you!
Your main task will be to perform a market assessment with key focus on identifying the total and available market for ABB in the
Marine business in Sweden. In order to succeed, you will work closely with various ABB sales channel representatives in Sweden and
with our Marine departments in the other Nordic Countries. You will also work with shipyards in Sweden, ship owners and
independent Marine institutes.
The Thesis work will focus on control systems, but shall also investigate the Market potential for the entire ABBs portfolio of products
and services for conventional vessels as well as new technologies such as emission free electrical ships. Examples of new
technologies and product offerings are Remote Services and Fleet Management products. This will give you a great insight into the
entire ABB offering and learn about an interesting and growing market.
Requirements
You are a highly motivated individual currently pursuing a Master’s degree. Preferably with a strong interest in business development
and technology in general. Knowledge of power and automation systems in general is an advantage (but not required).
• Possible start from January 2017 (To be agreed upon)
• 30 ECTS/högskolepoäng(hp) (Master’s Thesis)
• Thesis worker is currently a student
• Thesis worker will be assigned an office desk at ABB’s office in Västerås. However, parts of the work can also be done at the
university. Some travelling is to be anticipated. ABB will cover the travel costs.
