on p. 232. Knowing about the tension caused by the long-term issues in Europe during these years, what
flaws do you see in an alliance system based on protection?
3. Before war ever broke out, a British admiral stated, ‘I am not for war. I am for peace. That is why I am for a
supreme Navy. The supremacy of the British Navy is the best security for the peace of the world’. Do you
see any problems with this quote? Explain your answer.
