To help ensure that the Bechtel Canada Retirement Plan continues to meet the needs of its members,
the plan’s funds, features, and design are reviewed regularly. As a result of the most recent review,
changes are being made to the funds in the program.

Investment Management Fees (IMFs) are decreasing
An IMF is the fee collected by Manulife Financial to cover the cost associated with investment
management and administrative expenses. The fee is deducted from the fund before unit values are
calculated.
The IMF you pay for the Manulife BlackRock International Equity Index Fund within your retirement
savings portfolio was decreased by 0.05% on July 18, 2014. Paying lower fees will increase the net value
of each unit you hold – leaving more of your money growing for your retirement.
The table below shows the previous IMF and the new IMF for the affected fund.

What lower IMFs mean for your retirement savings
Since less money is deducted, more of your money remains in your account to grow for your retirement.
How to benefit from this fee reduction?
You don’t have to do anything to take advantage of the benefits of reduced IMFs.
Both on the member secure site and on your next account statement, you’ll see a transaction
description called Investment Fee Change that shows a sale and repurchase of your funds on the same
day to reflect the new, lower IMF. You’ll also see two rows for your personal rates of return. One rate of
return reflects the previous IMF, while the other reflects the new IMF. Please note: Although the
number of units and unit values are different, the total dollar amount of your savings has not changed.
To see the IMFs applied to your account, go to www.manulife.ca/bechtel and log in to your secure account
using your Customer Number and Personal Identification Number (PIN). Select My Account, then
Transaction summary from the left menu to review account transactions.
To change your investment options
If you do not want your funds transferred as mentioned above, you must change your investment
instructions before 4 p.m. ET on September 26, 2014.

Log in to your account at www.manulife.ca/bechtel using your 9-digit Customer Number and
Personal Identification Number (PIN). If you do not have a PIN, contact a Manulife Customer
Service Representative for assistance.

From My Investments select Transfer Between Investments to transfer your current savings, or
select Change My Investment Instructions to change the direction of your future contributions.
Bechtel Canada and Manulife Financial encourage you to take an active role in managing your
