SPECIFIC PROGRAMME “PREVENTION OF AND FIGHT AGAINST CRIME” – ISEC With the financial support of the Prevention of and Fight Against Crime Programme European Commission – Directorate - General Home Affairs Project: The introduction of the requirements for establishing Joint Investigation Teams (JIT) to fight trafficking in human beings in the South-eastern Europe - (JIT-THB) - HOME/2010/ISEC/FP/C1/ 4000001423 Project objective: The project is aimed at establishing conditions for the creation of joint investigative teams and a more effective fight against trafficking in human beings. It focuses primarily on the establishing of so-called strategic activities that will basically offer the necessary logistic platform for the continuation of operational performance. Workshops constitute the core of the project, whose aim is to encourage experts to participate in joint investigation teams, which will help them to develop international cooperation in criminal matters and to transfer good practices. Throughout the duration of the project 5 workshops will be conducted. The target groups are representatives from the police and prosecutor offices, non-governmental organizations and the national coordinators for combating human trafficking will also participate. Among project participants are also: the Office of the State Prosecutor General of the Republic of Slovenia, EUROPOL and EUROJUST. Project partners are Austria and Croatia, who will during the project duration get more familiar with various forms of police cooperation between EU Member States, including with the efficient exchange of information. To ensure these requirements is essential for SI Police to upgrade the capacity of the AFIS system with additional server capacity, which will allow for faster searches and provide higher throughput system. The project focuses on the acquisition of additional technical equipment designed for processing and comparison of fingerprints and traces, recovered at crime scenes and appropriate training of Slovenian experts, which will enable the Dactyloscopy Section of the NFL to work more efficiently. With the IECAC project forensic procedures will be enhanced, better quality of explosive data made available for national investigations due to the provision of technical interoperability of the SI NFL Chemistry analysis capacity. The IECAC project is a national project contributing to public safety and has a complementary impact on prevention of and fight against crime at EU and transnational level. In order to reach the project’s objective equipment will be purchased, software developed and investigators trained. OLAF Program HERCULE II Action: Increasing the Capacity of the Computer Investigation Centre at Central and Regional Level – OLAF/2010/C5/041 Objective: With this action the Slovenian police has increased the capacity of regional units in investigating computer crime. Further the technical equipment of police investigators was improved and investigators have been trained for proper equipment use. In 2011 and 2012 computer hardware and software licenses was purchased and training of computer experts was implemented. This equipment enables the analysis for fast detection of links and patterns within large amounts of data. It enables creating schedules and visualization of connections between search parameters.
