The NFYFC EBLEX regional training events offer YFC members practical farming and business skills to
produce meat for today’s market. Whether you’re a farmer, student or YFC stockjudging competitor
– this is the training for you!
The training day covers the topics listed below using cattle demonstration training sessions and
carcase inspection:
 Efficient handling and selection - Classification - Understanding the market place
 How different classes of stock fit into the supply chain
 Importance of meeting specification - Carcase utilisation
 Value of fifth quarter (animal health)
 Inspection of live animals before slaughter and as carcasses
 Abattoir/Livestock Market requirements
 Hygiene requirements – farm and abattoir
On the day you will need to bring clean wellingtons for outdoor use and something warm for
the chillers. The Abattoir will provide wellingtons for indoor use only.
