Noble Eightfold Path. Study the information and then complete the activity below.

The Noble Eightfold Path Activity
Read the story and explain what the farmer should do to follow the Noble Eightfold Path. Write
in complete sentences.
Include:
 What he should do/what decision he should make according to Buddhist beliefs (1 point)
AND

Which specific steps of Eightfold Path apply and why you chose those steps. (Name and
describe at least two steps that apply). (4 points)
A Buddhist farmer in ancient India lived near a stream. One day, he decided to
build a canal that carried water from the stream to his fields. The added water
would make his crops tall, and the farmer could sell them to become rich.
However, by building the canal, water would no longer flow further downstream.
The farmer’s neighbors would have no water at all.
What should the farmer do? Explain your answer on the lines below by referring to
the steps and descriptions above.
