Part 1: Early Civilizations Chart (to be done before the essay outline below) - Students will analyze the four ancient river valley civilizations: Indus River Valley, Nile River Valley, Tigris-Euphrates River Valley and the Huang He River Valley. - Students will use the PERSIAN (Political, Economical, Religious, Social, Intellectual, Artistic and Near) Chart Method to fill-in information from their reading regarding the four ancient river valley civilizations. - The chart is provided in their packet. 2. Part 2: Early Civilizations Essay Outline (to be done after the provided PERSIAN chart is completed) - Students will write their first comparative essay in class on August 7th. Students will be allowed to use this essay outline completed during the summer to write their in-class essay on August 7th. * Note: the required text reading sections, charts and essay outline are listed within the assignment packet which the student is responsible for picking up in the US Office and having completed by the first day of school. If students are unsure if they have been placed in AP World History, they are to call or email the US Office beginning June 2nd to inquire as to which course they have been placed. Students are held accountable for knowing their course placement. Course lists will also be mailed home to students in July listing their courses for the coming school year.
