Des Plaines Office Equipment unveils new “Smart MFP” user interface
ELK GROVE VILLAGE, IL, ISSUED MARCH 14, 2012…Des Plaines Office Equipment (DPOE), a Chicago area
document generation/solutions firm serving the region since 1955, today unveiled its latest
technological breakthrough for the document generation industry.
DPOE is introducing the “Smart MFP (Multifunction Printer) User Interface” from SHARP to the Chicago
area market. This is seen as a significant breakthrough in the areas of saving time and expenses
associated with creating documents in the workplace.
Operating similarly to the way an advanced smart phone does, the new user interface provides easy
access to all MFP features, which are viewed in icon form. Users can perform all tasks using “flick,”
“tap,” “slide” and “drag” gestures on the color LCD touchscreen. Icons perform the tasks the user
expects them to, and the system guides the user based on the previous commands to help them execute
desired functions more quickly.
The new Interface helps eliminate waste with a virtual proofing feature. Users can see and proof an
entire document on the MFP’s large color LCD panel before printing. Page layout and staple or holepunch locations are also displayed on the screen to ensure that fewer printing mistakes are made. MFPs
with the new interface also have an eco-learning mode, allowing for the power-up cycles to be adjusted
to meet the customer’s usage schedule.
Sharp’s new User Interface allows for customized and personalized use. Each user can have their own
personalized menu that matches their profile, workflow and language preferences. The home screen is
customizable down to the screen colors and can be easily programmed with one-touch icon shortcuts
based on the user’s permissions or most-used functions.
