THIS WAY TO BROADWAY – THE
WORKSHOP
This Way to Broadway – The Workshop focuses on
increasing participants’ performance skills for
communicating a story narrative through the three key
components of musical theatre — song, dialogue, and
movement. The training addresses both the stage and
vocal skills required for success in a variety of musical
genres. By the end of the program, participants will have
developed a solid foundation and skill set to accompany
their dreams of standing out of the crowd on stage.
ABOUT THE WORKSHOP:
The workshop is intended to educate and share the joy of
musical theatre and dance. This is accomplished through
a series of classes customized to meet the schedule
needs of the school/participants. Our usual program has
each class of participants attend the workshop for one
period (45mins-1:15) over five days as we work with several
classes OR can be customized as needed to suit different
schools (such as 1 day and 3 day intensive programs). We
also offer after school programs!
Classes will be taught by Broadway professional Ipsita
Paul, and associate, Tamara Evans, both of whom have
extensive teaching and professional credits in Canada
and the US. The core of the intensive classes will combine
the voice, the dancer, and the actor for truthful and
organic communication in musical theatre repertoire.
GOAL:
To introduce students to contemporary and traditional
musical theatre works so that they have a true
appreciation for the art. Over the course of the
workshop, students/participants will amplify their talent
and passion with confidence and sophistication. By the
end of the program they will present their finished
performance.
We will present age appropriate songs and choreography
from Broadway productions such as:
• Footloose
• Hairspray
• Rent
• Mamma Mia
• A Chorus Line
• Grease
Other Available Programs:
• Exploring Forms of Dance (Ballet, Jazz, Modern,
Disco, Hip Hop, Bollywood, Salsa)
• Kindergarten Movement Mania
