CUSTOMS INFORMATION PAPER (10) 84 Tariff Classification of certain types of LCD Monitor wef 1 January 2011 Who should read: All involved with the importing of Liquid Crystal Display (LCD) Monitors. What is it about: When effective: The termination of a Nil duty suspension covering certain types of LCD Monitor. 1 January 2011 Extant until/ Expires Until further Notice 1. Introduction Certain types of LCD Monitor (see Paragraph 2 below) have been subject to a Nil duty suspension for the period 1 January 2009 to 31 December 2010 in accordance with Council Regulation 179/2009 (Official Journal L63(1) dated 7 March 2009). The Nil duty suspension expires on 31 December 2010. From 1 January 2011, the products will be classified in a code attracting 14% duty. 2. Products at issue The current duty suspension in code 8528 5990 40 covers; “Monitors, using liquid crystal display technology, with a diagonal measurement of the screen not exceeding 55.9 cm (i.e. 22 inches), with an aspect ratio of 1:1, 4:3, 5:4 or 16:10” 3. 2010/2011 Tariff Structure The current tariff structure and the amended structure from 1 January 2011 in relation to colour monitors will be as follows; Period up to 31 December 2010 8528 5990 20 (Subject to a Nil duty suspension) “Liquid crystal display colour video monitor having a DC input voltage of 7 V or more but not exceeding 30 V, with a diagonal measurement of the screen of 33.2 cm or less, suitable for the incorporation into goods of chapters 84 to 90 and 94” 8528 5990 40 (Subject to a Nil duty suspension until 31 December 2010) Text as per Paragraph 2 above. 8528 5990 90 (Subject to 14% duty) Other Colour Monitors Period from 1 January 2011 8528 5940 20 (Subject to a Nil duty suspension) “Liquid crystal display colour video monitor having a DC input voltage of 7 V or more but not exceeding 30 V, with a diagonal measurement of the screen of 33.2 cm or less, suitable for the incorporation into goods of chapters 84 to 90 and 94” 8528 5940 90 (Subject to 14% duty) Other Colour LCD Monitors 8528 5980 00 (Subject to 14% duty) Other Colour Monitors. 4.
