Notice of Intention to make a Water Extraction Licence Decision
Pursuant to section 71B of the Water Act
The Controller of Water Resources hereby gives notice that a decision is to be made
regarding an application for the grant of a water extraction licence under Section 60 of
the NT Water Act.
The application relates to the proposed reduction of maximum annual extraction of
146 ML to 82 ML from existing water bore RN036577 and additional bore RN037778
for the beneficial use of Industry on Lots 10187 and 11983, Town of Palmerston.
The source of the proposed extraction is the Carbonate Layer Formation; for which
the average sustainable yield is estimated to be 500ML/annum. The quantity of
water that currently may be able to be taken from this aquifer under Water Extraction
Licences is up to a maximum of 146ML/year. The quantity of water taken from the
aquifer in 2014 was approximately 150ML.
